There are fun hackers – the kind that can hack Dark Souls to make their character model obscenely contorted and unbelievably hilarious – and there are boring hackers.

Boring hackers just buff their stats so that they win every fight, or rig the in-game leaderboards so that they are at the top. All it does is destroy that feature for everyone else and ruin the only way people can compare their own skills against the masses.

A good hacker can (sometimes) manipulate the game to make hilarious consequences. Boring hackers inconvenience everyone and prove nothing beyond the fact that they are annoying.
