Arguably, Call of Duty's multiplayer tends to take up the majority of players' time, and the series has built a strong reputation in both the casual and competitive scenes the world over.

But it's not just the multiplayer portions of the game that are memorable. The bombastic action of Call of Duty's campaigns have been putting us in the boots of soldiers from all over the world across all sorts of time periods. From the original Call of Duty and World War 2, to the Modern Warfare and Black Ops semi-modern day conflict zones, and even in to the near future with Advanced Warfare's tale of augmented soldiers, Infinite Warfare now takes us the furthest in to the future than any previous COD to date.

Call of Duty's campaigns have had some spectacularly memorable moments over the last few years, and since the release of Infinite Warfare, Taylor Kurosaki (who previously worked at Naughty Dog as Narrative Lead Director) has even gone on record in an interview with Gamespot as saying Call of Duty has "the best set-pieces in the business."

So, with that in mind, here are 10 examples that show Call of Duty set-pieces at their very best.

10. Battle Of Pointe Du Hoc - Call Of Duty 2

The Battle of Pointe du Hoc opens up with you cramped up in an LCVP Higgins boat, approaching the European shoreline to destroy German guns on top of the cliffs. Ocean spray and nervous chatter set the scene, as one of your fellow soldiers throws up from a mixture of nerves and fear.

There's a real 'calm before the storm' feel to the opening of this mission, and then when the German guns begin to fire as the adrenaline kicks in and you can't wait to heroically storm the beach. Then, as you're leaving the assault boat, you're knocked to the ground by an explosion.

Almost deafened and crawling around on the sand, the scene plays out in slow motion and is shocking to witness.

It's a powerful scene that illustrates the bravery and desperation of the men you're fighting alongside, and is a real standout point in the entirety of Call of Duty 2's campaign.
