10 Most Frustrating Video Game Moments Of All Time

4. Tailing The Resistance Member - Metal Gear Solid 4

For as good as the Metal Gear Solid series is, it's no stranger to frustrating moments. The original MGS had the momentum killing PAL card sequence, the second had you escorting E.E, and the third had you constantly feeding EVA every five minutes so she didn't starve to death. As annoying as all those were though, they don't hold a candle to the entirety of Metal Gear Solid 4's third chapter.

The majority of this sequence has you tailing a resistance member VIP all around a city, trying not to alter them while also taking out guards who are also after him. It's kind of like an elongated tailing mission from Assassin's Creed only more elaborate. Sadly, unlike that series, the mission doesn't instantly fail if you're spotted by your target - which is a testament to just how annoying this level is, because insta-fail stealth sequences are the damn worst.

If you are seen, the game won't kick you back to a checkpoint, but rather make you go the long way around to your destination, making a tedious mission even worse. If you lose patience and send the area into alert, you're punished hard, and it will make you resent replaying in the future.
