We all know the real reason why we get excited about the prospect of a new Mortal Kombat game.

Even if you love the eclectic characters and the convoluted story, it's the gore that makes gamers keep coming back for more. Despite spawning many imitators, there is no game where you can rip off your adversary's head or pull their spine out with the same satisfaction as in Ed Boon and John Tobias' beloved fighter.

Even though you can pummel your rival to death with your bare hands, uppercut them into oblivion, or sweep their leg until they run out of their health, it can be more fun to obliterate your opponent with a weapon.

What's more exhilarating than hacking your enemy with Mileena's Sai, Kabal's hookswords, or Jade's bo staff?

Some weapons have become so iconic, the characters would feel naked without them. Could you imagine Kung Lao without his razor-tipped hat? Could you fathom playing as Baraka without his arm blades?

With so many iconic ways to stab, bludgeon, and impale kombatants over the years, it's hard to figure out which weapon in Mortal Kombat is the best of all.

10. Jade's Staff

Although Mortal Kombat II had 12 playable characters, it also had three hidden kombatants - Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Jade. Since Jade was a palette swapped version of Kitana, she used the same weapons as the Edenian princess - fans.

But when she reappeared in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, she was reassigned with a bo staff. Even though she has used a triblade in several games, the staff has become Jade's most identifiable armament. Because Mortal Kombat is filled with brutal weapons such as scimitars, lances, and axes, a stick seems pretty tame by comparison.

However, Jade's staff gives her a breathtakingly varied fighting style. She can use the pole to launch her enemy in the air, allowing her to perform all sorts of juggling combos. She can also catapult herself upwards before reining her staff down upon her opponent's head. Not only that, she can twirl around the pole to dodge attacks or to initiate devastating combos.

At a glance, it's easy to underestimate the emerald-robed assassin. But if one knows how to utilise her staff skilfully, Jade is one of the most best kombatants.
