10 Most Ridiculous Boss Battles Of All Time

5. Alec Trevelyan - Goldeneye

Rare's Goldeneye continues to be regarded as one of the best and most influential console shooters ever made, more for its brilliant local multiplayer than its single-player offering, exemplified no better than in the absurd final battle on the Cradle against 006 himself, Alec Trevelyan. Seemingly unable to recreate the film's intense fist-fight within the game's mechanics, instead you have to chase after Trevelyan, who spends the entire level fleeing like a little sissy, while his seemingly infinite number of block-headed guards run into your bullets. When you finally make it to the last platform, you kill Trevelyan without any concerted effort whatsoever, making this a supremely underwhelming and totally daft final battle. With the vast design time that clearly went into rendering the Cradle, why not give us an epic shootout ending that goes all over the place? Instead we have to mow down an endless horde of nameless baddies and then kill the Big Bad himself with just a few bullets. Try not to laugh at the final "standoff" against 006, and then feel woefully empty that it was such a letdown.
