9. Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders

Though it's still ranked among the best-reviewed games of 2025 on Metacritic, not nearly enough people are talking about or playing Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders.

A snow-topped follow-up to biking game Lonely Mountains: Downhill, Snow Riders tosses you onto the slopes and lets you have at it, to navigate a series of increasingly treacherous mountainous courses.

It might seem dead-basic, but Snow Riders thrives on the strength of its physics-based skiing mechanics, which ensure you're going to faceplant a whole hell of a lot. 

But sensibly, developer Megagon Industries allows you to near-instantly respawn after taking a tumble.

The game is also quite the looker, the cartoonish art style belying the fact that it offers up some of the most mesmerisingly inviting snow ever seen in a video game.

As you cut a line through the white stuff, it never gets old seeing the snow react with a level of photoreal precision typically afforded to sporting sims.

And as a cherry on top, unlike its predecessor it's also got a fantastic competitive online multiplayer mode.
