Speaking of questionably written mythology! It's no grand secret that the God of War series reads like a Mobius Strip put through the wash with the cast of Dead Spacethat is to say, an incredibly bloody mess that goes nowhere fast. But God of War 2, in particular, reaches new levels of stagnation by beginning and ending in the exact same scene: Kratos gunning for Zeus' throat. You could wring Kratos dry over over a funnel and not collect an ounce of levity, everything between Point A and Point A-gain proves to be absolutely worthless thanks to some time-travel shenanigans, and a final boss of quick-time-events is to climactic what LEGO bricks are to slippers. The game intentionally goes nowhere and delivers one wet blanket of an ending as a result.
