10 Promising 2019 Video Game Rumours You Need To Know
2. Nintendo Switch 2 Is Already On Its Way
Nintendo's latest handheld console is the culmination of all their best work: built for multiplayer with the detachable joycons, able to be projected onto TV for a more console-centric experience, and has access to a library of fantastic downloadable games both new and old for whatever mood you so happen to be in. That the Switch was the must-buy gadget of 2017 seems to be driving the company to keep up their positive sales momentum, with plans for another console out as early as summer next year.
Nintendo are known for releasing multiple versions of the same device in all fairness, with the 3DS succeeded by an entry-level 2DS, then an XL version of the 3DS and finally an XL version of the 2DS all between 2013 to 2017. The Switch 2 could well be following suit with a downgraded, entry level console that would be slightly cheaper - but in all likelihood, it'll actually be the opposite.
'Undisclosed sources' have rumoured that the original Switch Joycons will still be compatible, ruling out an XL release. Instead, we'll be getting an improved LCD display and performance updates at the heart of the new device, making it lean towards a more 'PlayStation Pro' style release than anything else. Necessary? Probably not.
