10 Promising 2019 Video Game Rumours You Need To Know
4. Cyberpunk 2077 Will Probably Be Delayed
One of, if not THE, biggest game release of next year is undoubtedly Cyberpunk 2077. Alleged to come out sometime in 2019, the game is a behemoth of a project that's been in development since early 2012, with over 300 people working on it at any given time.
Of course, we'd expect nothing less from the studio that bought us The Witcher series and blew modern RPG gaming out of the water with 2016's third instalment, as CD Projekt Red know they have some series shoes to fill in the aftermath of Geralt's success.
Cyberpunk 2077 is based on the tabletop roleplaying game that functions like a science fiction Dungeons and Dragons, bringing to life the sprawling dystopian metropolis of Night City that's akin to Blade Runner's massive neon cities. There's plenty of speculation on the game and how it will play from the little information we've been given, but if the sheer scale of this type of game is anything to go by - we're probably not going to see it for a while.
CD Projekt Red has a government grant that has a June 2019 release date stipulated: but that means nothing if they apply for an extension. And it' not certain it's for Cyrberpunk 2077 either.
Given that the teaser trailer states the game will be here 'when it's ready', there's nothing set in stone just yet.
