10 Rarest RPG Weapons Ever

Time to REALLY grind.

We often talk about how there’s no right way to play video games and while that remains true, there are certainly things in any video game that make us feel like we’re pulling them off better than your average gamer.

These are things like crossing off generally unattainable achievements, hitting impressive leaderboard standings, or obtaining weapons that few players have managed to get their hands on. That last one is what we’re focussing on today as there are more than a handful of weapons that seldom find their way into even the most dedicated RPG players’ inventories. While there are plenty of unique weapons that fans have found it tricky to get their hands on throughout gaming history, here are ten of the most elusive.

If you’ve ever counted yourself among the lucky owners of any of the following, you can colour us genuinely impressed.

10. The Pendulum Of Doom - World Of Warcraft

Despite sounding like an amulet to the uninitiated, I promise you that not only is this item extremely rare, it’s an axe, so we’re all good.

A Reddit post from user P0ROWL went viral two years ago where they described running Uldaman for no less than 3.5 years grinding for this one weapon. That amounted to 2,000 runs on retail and 292 runs on Classic WoW which is mind-boggling. This thing has a ludicrously low drop rate and due to it being extremely rare, it’s even almost always sold out on real money auction houses. It didn’t used to be so hard to get your hands on, but when Blizzard rescaled a handful of mob levels for Cataclysm they incidentally removed almost all of the mobs that were in the right range to drop the weapon, making it even harder to farm for.

Plenty more gamers have stories on giving up grinding for this one than those who actually obtained it so if you’ve managed it yourself, that’s a real badge of honour.
