All due respect to Dark Souls III€™s take on dark fantasy, but it is fairly similar to many dark fantasy titles that we€™ve seen in the past. Within you will find few major deviations from the dragons, skeletons, and castles we associate with the genre.

Bloodborne, however, is a child of far fresher inspiration. Its gothic world borrows a few pages from the works of HP Lovecraft and Hammer horror films but has a dreamlike quality that is entirely its own. There is a malevolent - yet undeniably beautiful €“ character to the visual design of Bloodborne that encourages you to explore every inch of it despite the danger.

It€™s no coincidence that many of the best visuals in Dark Souls III are lifted from Bloodborne.
