10 Reasons Nintendo Switch Online Is A Crushing Disappointment

5. The NES Classic Controller Doesn't Work With Switch Games

So, Nintendo is only allowing subscribers to their online service to purchase the NES-style Joy-Cons, and only one can be bought per paid-up account, then.

The reason for this, hilariously, is that the Joy-Cons only work with NES games, and furthermore, can only be attached to the Switch for charging: you need to detach them in order to play NES titles.

What's most insulting about all this is that despite lacking all the buttons, analog sticks, gyroscope and rumble of the regular Joy-Cons, and only working with NES games no less, it's still retailing for an absurd $60 bucks.

Effectively, the controllers are fully tied to your online subscription, making them a laughably overpriced indulgence reserved for fans who really, really love their nostalgia.

Granted this news isn't as depressing as other undercooked aspects of NSO - after all, just don't buy the controller - but it still feels crassly exploitative and amounts to appalling value-for-money.
