10. Gear Of War 4 - It Looks Like The Same Old Gears

The Gears of War franchise has long suffered from diminishing returns. When the original title was released in 2006, it was rightfully praised for its adrenaline-fueled take on the third-person shooter genre. It's cover system and refined control scheme forever changed the way we look at action games.

So much so, in fact, that the franchise has yet to really outdo itself. While other Gears games have been perfectly playable, the franchise has long struggled to take that next step into a new era of excellence.

The footage we've seen thus far of Gears of War 4 suggests that it is the best looking and, perhaps, most epic Gears of War to date, but so far we have seen nothing that suggests that this franchise has finally matured.

A million cover-based shooters have come and gone since Gears of War first arrived on the scene. The genre is moving on, and it's time for this franchise to do the same.
