These creatures have the powerful ability of “False Appearance.” This means that while at home in a cave they can blend in perfectly with stalactites and stalagmites. They cannot be perceived even with a search action. When they are moving, they also have advantage on stealth checks. The fact that these horrific looking beasts can be that stealthy is worrying. Looking like a giant meat mound, you wouldn’t think this was possible.

These beats evolved in the Underdark, migrating to other caves as they grow. They are also apparently very intelligent, studying history and philosophy. Some pilgrims even visit the Ropers in the hope to learn their knowledge. It is a shame then that any adventurer who sees this creature is going to kill it first and ask questions later.

They may have multi-attack, four tentacles, and a large mouth but don’t worry. They can only move 10 feet a turn. This means that with a good ranged spell or weapon these creatures could be hit all day long and not even get close. You’re just going to need to set them off first.
