10 Secret Gaming Areas You Never Knew Existed
10. Chris Houlihan Room (A Link To The Past)
The Legend of Zelda series encourages players to travel far and wide to discover secrets scattered throughout the realm of Hyrule. One of the most secretive locations in the history of the series is the Chris Houlihan Room.
Found in A Link to the Past, this room was developed as part of a competition that Nintendo Power held in the early 1990s. The winner of the contest would have their name appear in an upcoming Nintendo title and a guy called Chris Houlihan became the victor.
There were several ways to gain access to the room. The most popular method involved using the Pegasus Boots to dash from the Sanctuary all the way to the Sewer Passageway’s Entrance. When done properly, Link would fall into an underground room and be greeted by a message that said “my name is Chris Houlihan. This is my top-secret room. Keep it between us, ok?”
The player could help themselves to 45 blue rupees. On exiting the room, they would return to Link’s home.
