10 Seemingly Pointless Video Game Choices That Have Surprising Consequences
10. The Kuo-toa Will Build An Army In Your Name - Baldur's Gate 3
Most choices you make in Baldur's Gate 3 have real consequences for picking them, although you might have to wait for some of them.
In fact, one choice regarding the secret Kua-toa cult in Act 1 requires you to wait for its consequences the entire game!
During the Underdark section early in the story, your party can encounter a cult of fish people called Kuo-toa who worship a redcap as their god.
There are several different ways in which you can approach the fish, one of which is convincing them that their god is fake, killing him, and then proclaiming yourself to be their new deity.
If you do so, the Kuo-toa leader will ask you for your first decree. One of the options here is telling the fishfolk to assemble an army, and while this doesn't seem to do anything for three whole acts, in the final battle, it will turn out that your worshippers have actually followed through and built an army that you can spawn to help defeat the final boss.
Now, the Kuo-toa soldiers are mostly pretty weak, but their one champion is a paladin that can completely obliterate enemy soldiers with smiting attacks while you focus on the main boss!
