While there are few really good examples of Spider-Man video games, there are fewer still that appear on handheld consoles. Thankfully, however, there is at least one title that should be an essential addition to the gaming library of any Spider-Man fans looking to game on the go. Ultimate Spider-Man does feature a set of full console versions, but the Nintendo DS iteration is quite the unique prospect. It takes the classic Spidey side-scroller into a 3D environment and modernises it very well. It also makes great use of the DS's touch screen, allowing players to control attacks and special abilities for Spider-Man and Venom by tapping there, rather than using the stock buttons. Since the game is based around the Bendis adventures, the story is also fun and accessible while still maintaining all of the drama and tension that Peter's life entails. You thought your teenage years were hard? Well they're nothing compared to this!
