3. Scott Shelby - Heavy Rain
Another divisive choice, Heavy Rain in general tends to have just as many supporters as detractors - never mind the final rug-pull where it turns out main character Scott Shelby has been the killer all along.
Regardless, creator David Cage can never resist such moments, and Shelby's entire demeanour changes as Cage needs to hammer home how much he's now public enemy number one. It turns out the moment where friendly clock-maker Manfred was found dead was actually Shelby thwacking his brains in with a typewriter, and - assumedly - he's been a private eye hunting himself as a way of checking in on all the parents whose children he killed... just to see if they've learned anything?
It all gets a bit murky to be honest, but if like myself you fall into the bracket of loving everything Heavy Rain was trying to do, is still a very memorable twist.
