10 Star Trek Games Paramount Should Develop
5. Star Trek: Repairbots
Any dedicated Star Trek fan knows that the real heroes of Starfleet aren't the fighters or even the captains; they're the engineers. Their mission? To stop everything from falling apart. Their secret weapon? Tiny, adorable maintenance robots.
Even a high-stakes franchise like Star Trek has room for some hectic puzzles in the form of a casual co-op game. Think Overcooked or KeyWe, but with cute little repairbots that you and a friend control to stop consoles exploding, coolant leaking and systems overloading.
The lovingly built lore surrounding Starfleet tech, LCARS and ship systems would provide the perfect framework for a set of increasingly challenging puzzles. And presented with colourful graphics, engaging layouts and satisfying mechanics, players would be constantly tempted to play just one more level.
Victory would depend on rerouting power, swapping isolinear chips and repairing burned-out components before the timer runs out. The panic, camaraderie and triumph would all be part of the fun. And of course, we'd want a replicator terminal where we could unlock new designs for our dinky bots.
The simple gameplay and graphics would allow for expansions that send your adorable little repairbots on missions to save starships from across the franchise. And why stop at the Federation? If your bots work hard enough, perhaps they could unlock levels aboard Klingon, Romulan and Vulcan vessels too. The possibilities are endless, and no matter the timeline, location or faction, it's all in a day's work for a repairbot.
