Star Wars is such a dense, detail-packed universe that the movies can really only scratch the surface of every scrap of lore it has to offer. And so, over the decades the films have left fans with a ton of questions that had to instead be answered by the wider lore.

While most of these answers have typically been provided by novelisations and reference books released over the years, the many great Star Wars video games have also proved an impressively invaluable resource for fans hoping to expand their knowledge.

Some of Star Wars' most tantalising and enigmatic moments have been at least partially explained by the video games, and while sadly not all of these games are still strictly canon, for the most part their claims haven't been majorly contradicted by anything within the existing continuity.

From providing the crucial connective tissue between movies to expanding upon important character relationships, these video games helped flesh out that which couldn't be contained within a single two-hour movie.

Basically, make sure you don't sleep on the Star Wars games in your quest for a deeper understanding of George Lucas' mind-bogglingly rich world, because you'll clearly be missing out...

10. How Kylo Ren Tracks Down Lor San Tekka - Star Wars Battlefront II

The Force Awakens opens with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) hunting down Lor San Tekka (Max von Sydow), who manages to sneak a partial map revealing Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill) location to Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) before being murdered by Ren.

But how, exactly, did Ren know where Lor San Tekka was in the first place?

The truth is revealed at the end of Star Wars Battlefront II's campaign, where some three decades after the Battle of Jakku, Kylo Ren confronts Inferno Squad member Del Meeko on the planet Pillio.

Ren probes Del's mind for Tekka's location, learning that he took the map to the planet Bayora, a breadcrumb which presumably allowed Ren to eventually track him to Jakku, leading directly into the opening of The Force Awakens.
