Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is dumb as a box of rocks, and on the whole a pretty entertaining game because of it. It doesn't get any sillier than that "Revengeance" sub-title, though, which again sounds like some sort of Japanese mis-translation. Kotaku did some digging and realised that not only had Soulfly written a song by the same name, but in a 1960s KKK case in the United States, a clansman on trial used the word "revengeance" in his defense, not that anyone's trying to draw a comparison between the KKK and Hideo Kojima or whoever decided on MGR's absurd sub-title. It's stupid, but it does sort of work, a clear combination of the words "revenge" and "vengeance", which suits the game's goofy, kitschy, B-movie-esque tone. Still, if the intent was for it to inspire excitement rather than laughter, they got it horribly, horribly wrong.
