10 Surprisingly Great Multiplayer Modes In Single-Player Games

10. Saints Row

Saints Row OG is something of an underrated game in-and-of itself; it was a more straight-laced GTA clone, but one with a distinct graphical style, interesting plot, and a fun open world. Of course, then the series devolved into pure insanity, but there's something quite attractive about that original title.

One reason was the games interesting multiplayer modes. Saints Row hopped on the multiplayer band-wagon a little earlier than most games of the era, and did so in its own unique way. It embraced traditional modes but leaned on a "gangster" theme; like kill confirmed but, rather than collecting dog tags, you collected gold chains instead.

Another such mode was called Protect The Pimp, in which one player attempted to escort a pimp from one location to another, while other players tried to stop them.

There were other modes as well, and a wealth of customisation options that didn't require an extra dime. It was zany and quite unique both at the time, and even now. Saints Row has always been something of an outlier, and the original games multiplayer was as well.
