1. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Yes, arguably the greatest game of all time came with one of the worst commercials ever made over in the West, marking a staggering lack of judgement or quality control from Nintendo's western advertising partners.
Honestly, with this and Earthbound, it's a wonder Ocarina still managed to go down well.
With a bizarre, overly quirky score backing the whole thing, weird lines of text ask "Willst thou flee??/Or fight??", before asking if you'll "Get the girl/Or fight like one".
While sexism in 90s game adverts was sadly nothing new, the reality of Zelda's role in Ocarina was one of the only times an archetypal princess didn't stay a one-dimensional damsel in distress.
Regardless, this was a terrible look for the game, and it's testament to the final product that Nintendo still smashed sales records.
