8. Otacon Diddled His Step-Mother (MGS2)

Poor Otacon.

In the original Metal Gear Solid, Otacon has fallen in love with Russian badgirl Sniper Wolf, apparently on the basis that she must be a good person... because she likes dogs. Minutes later, his new bestie Solid Snake guns her down right in front of him at the climax of a deadly battle.

Grab the tissues, son.

Metal Gear Solid 2 attempts to up the sad Otacon ante by introducing his sister, only for Vamp to kill her like an hour later.

There's also some sort of weird sub-plot about Otacon diddling his step-mother, and when his dad found out he drowned himself in the family swimming pool.

All the tragedy becomes too much for poor Otacon, and he cries for like four cut-scenes in a row. It goes on and on and on. It actually becomes kinda funny after a while. There's a parrot involved for some reason. And then him and Snake have a badass high five before they go to save the day.

That bit is rad, but everything before it needs sinking to the bottom of the sea.
