Crackdown 3 has of course been a majorly problematic project for Microsoft for several years, after first being announced back at E3 2014 with a planned 2016 release date.

Much was made of the game's cloud computing tech, which would allow an unprecedented level of scenic destruction by pooling rendering resources from the cloud, as opposed to simply utilising the Xbox One's limited hardware.

However, word has become increasingly quiet on the game in recent years, with several shifting release dates prompting many to suspect it was on the cusp of being cancelled by Microsoft.

On the eve of its planned June 2018 release date, Crackdown 3 was again delayed to February 2019, where it will (apparently) premiere as part of Xbox Game Pass.

Needless to say, from the rather underwhelming array of gameplay footage, lukewarm E3 play-test reports and the suspicious lack of recent information about the cloud tech, it feels like this is setting up to be an aggressively mediocre mess of a game.
