10 Upcoming Horror Video Games That Will Terrify You In 2017
All hail the slasher flick, the best type of horror video game.
Boy, are gamers in for a treat next year.
A good game is pretty hard to come by nowadays, especially
when consumers are shown a ton of in-game footage that never actually
makes into the final cut because publishers decide to slice out content to sell later as DLC. They even push the game to a later
release date to “fix “ some issues, only to find they're still present at launch regardless.
Yep, even though we are presumably shown alpha footage, video games can still turn out be complete flops, however, from what I have seen - or rather played - the horror genre isn't really effected by this predicament. Most developers and publishers who focus on horror only really see one thing; “How can we make sure the player voids their bowels while playing?”
As weird as it sounds, I prefer to play a game from a studio or publisher that thinks that way. They only see expressive and visionary ways to scare the crud out the gaming community by thinking of artistic and experimental ways to do so, and with that being said, here are 10 upcoming horror games that will (hopefully) be released in 2017.
10. Scorn
This game, for starters is pretty unique. Scorn is a first person shooter set in a nightmare fuel induced atmosphere where the player explores and tries to understand the open-ended world that is set in front of them.
The game's world doesn't seem too appealing as it resembles flesh from the inside of a whale, but that also makes Scorn's aesthetic much more unique. The mechanics of play will be its strongest suit, simply because of the way Scorn will link various locations together in a non-linear fashion, utilising a combination of constant tension, and the gathering of items, ammo and inventory management.
Its Steam Greenlight page tells us that this game will be available on PC and will be split into two separate parts. No word on when the second part of the game will be released at the moment, but for now, Scorn is being published by EBB Software Studios and will be release its first half in early 2017.
