10 Upcoming PS5 & Xbox Series X Open-World Games You Need To Know About

10. Atlas Fallen

First revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live in 2022, Atlas Fallen is an upcoming semi-open-world title that might just finally propel Deck13 into the big league of developers.

Set primarily across an arid backdrop, Atlas Fallen already looks like a game that screams 'scale'. When it comes to open-world games, it feels like developers have become obsessed with flexing how much more they can fit on their new systems, stuffing their titles with so many different themes and types of locations.

Deck13, however, look like they're going against this trend with Atlas Fallen with the game solely being hosted in a fantastical desert environment. Desert themes are notoriously hit-or-miss in the world of gaming, but, what we've seen from the game so far makes it feel like a stellar example of how next-gen tech can elevate even sparse desert plains into a legitimately alien and expansive setting that looks ripe for exploring.

It's easy to get shades of Shadow of the Colossus from the teasers and trailers for the game, with just enough of an RPG focus sprinkled in to give it its unique feel.

Atlas Fallen was recently delayed to August 2023 but does already look like one of those mindless escapist titles that are always a blast to boot up and sink a few hours into.
