10 Upcoming Video Games That Prove Single Player Is Far From Dead
10. Rage 2
When Bethesda came out on stage at E3 2017, they launched a campaign labelled 'Save Player 1', promising fans the publisher was dedicated to an expansive single-player lineup - one that would push boundaries and create memorable experiences for the gamers who didn't care for online play.
Bethesda have delivered on this promise multiple times, and with games like Rage 2 on the horizon, it's clear they aren't stopping. Set within a chaotic, post-apocalyptic wasteland, this sequel looks to deliver fast-paced combat, a gigantic open-world and the kind of explosive fun that only a collaboration between id Software and Avalanche Studios could feasibly create.
The 7-minute gameplay trailer made it clear the sequel is more than just a typical shooter, featuring over-the-top weapons, super powers and colossal mutant behemoths. Better yet, the world seems wide-open for exploration, hinting that there'll be enough content to leave us satisfied for a long time to come.
Whilst the first entry was disappointing, Rage 2 appears to be the reinvention that players wanted, taking the original's bland world and cranking it up to Mad Max levels of pure insanity. It seems primed to absorb our lives when it launches next year, hopefully leaving us exploring the wasteland into the early hours of the morning...
