Release date: 2016 Like so many of the games on this list, Below doesn't look quite like anything we've seen before. You could loosely describe it as owing some of its elements to old-school Zelda games but with rogue-like mechanics, so much of it is procedurally-generated, and you only have one life with which to complete the game. You control a warrior exploring a mysterious island filled with caves, dungeons temples, and a variety of other scenic environments, battling monsters and solving puzzles. What's really impressive about it is the art style, which looks hand-drawn and meticulously crafted, yet is almost completely randomised on each play-through. Details about Below have been thin on the ground lately, but it does look set to feature a multiplayer mode. Fingers crossed we hear some more news about this gorgeous game soon.
