Super Smash Bros. holds a pedigree as one of Nintendo's flagship titles. Very few of them have been released since the franchise's 1999 beginnings, with each entry in the revered series considered to be a masterpiece in its time, with a fervent fanbase surrounding it.

But this one could be different. This Super Smash Bros. is being released for the Nintendo Switch, a system doing a great job of filling its release schedule with ports. More than a few people would be highly disappointed if this entry turned out to be a port of the Wii U instalment, especially since there's been a four year gap since release.

Admittedly, there is a decent argument to be made for both sides. It seems impossible that Nintendo could really get a brand new Smash out this year, but if it's really been in development since 2014, then who knows - the logo seems to be new, and you have to wonder if Nintendo would be so secretive about a mere port.
