10 Video Game Characters Whose Fates Are Never Resolved
10. Lady Elvira Grey - Fable II
In the 'golden' age of Fable: The Lost Chapters; players were given the option of courting Lady Elvira Grey; the Mayoress of Bowerstone, who had secretly murdered her older sister to ensure the succession of leadership passed to her.
Either way, the scene is set for one of Fable II's most beloved quests, 'Love Hurts' wherein the player is asked to locate Lady Grey's decomposed body parts after she was butchered by Witch Hunters 300 years prior, to be reanimated by a Victor Frankenstein-type introvert.
Lady Grey's fate is then placed in the hands of the player, who can allow the perverted individual to elope with his corpse bride - or the player can steal the Lady for themselves... which presents issues with the character's fate.
If the player steals Lady Grey's heart but doesn't opt to marry her, she wanders off into obscurity, likely doing so forever, being a zombie and all.
Perhaps more worryingly, if the player chooses to marry Lady Grey, then the protagonist of Fable III is very likely the progeny of a Hero and a reanimated corpse.
How did that marriage even begin to work?? We'll never know.
