10. Maven Black-Briar - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Depending on your choices in Skyrim, you can elevate Maven to the title of Jarl of The Rift. You'd think that this newfound position of power and wealth might go straight to her head, yes? Well don't worry, because she has always been stuck-up and arrogant, so at least she won't change.

For many fans of the game, Maven represents everything that is wrong with the elite class. She shows zero humility or compassion, operates largely on threats that show how well-connected she is in her position, constantly belittles you as if you are not worthy of her time and she's a total gossip.

Even before becoming Jarl, Maven is elitist and cutthroat in the way she practically owns Riften. She constantly flaunts her close connections to the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood, even outright stating that the former owe their very existence to her coin.

A woman with this much influence is certainly a worthwhile ally to have, but at the same time, she is utterly detestable to the point that she may not be worth keeping alive at all.

Oh, and did I forget to mention that she also threatened to disown her 'favourite' child for not being too interested in the family business?
