Hallucinations are a foundation of the already-terrifying Dead Space experience, with protagonist Isaac Clarke not only fighting his way through a slew of reanimated, mutated corpses in space, but also having to put up with terrifying visions created by the mysterious alien technologies known as Markers.

Throughout the game, you'll not only encounter subtle hallucinogenic elements such as voices whispering and Marker symbols, but also persistent visions of Issac's girlfriend Nicole who, unbeknownst to both the player and Isaac at the time, has actually already killed herself.

This culminates in the game's pant-filling final jump scare, where just as Isaac's traumatic journey appears to be over, he turns around to be met by a dead vision of Nicole seeming to attack him. The End.
