10. Chris Redfield - Resident Evil: Village 

Resident Evil Village opens with the shocking murder of Ethan Winters' wife Mia and the kidnapping of his daughter Rose. That's shocking in and of itself, but here's the twist - the one that done the deed is seemingly shown to be series veteran Chris Redfield. However, things are a bit more complicated than that. Needlessly so.

See, later on it turns out that WASN'T actually Mia. That was main villain Mother Miranda, who had kidnapped Mia shortly after Rose was born and used her ability to shapeshift at will to take her place. The second Chris figured that out, he and his men filled her with lead.

So what's the problem here? Well there's the teensy weensy, itty bitty, nigh insignificant detail that he DID NOT TELL ETHAN ANY OF THIS. Despite knowing that Ethan would likely be much more helpful if he knew someone had nicked his wife again while he wasn't looking, Chris chose to leave him in the dark for reasons the game never gets around to explaining.

Hell one of his own men outright tells him that he should have explained to Ethan sooner. There is literally zero reason for Chris to not have told him earlier. Or when he showed up to the Village. Or when he was taken in the convey. Or...
