10 Video Game Remakes We NEED On Next-Generation Consoles
10. Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid first burst onto home consoles way back in 1998 and has been adored by the world ever since, often regarded as one of the greatest videogames ever created. Since its release it has had a multitude of sequels, spin offs and other media, accumulating in the divisive fifth entry in the series, The Phantom Pain.
With series creator Hideo Kojima now having split from Konami and the last entry having such a varied response, it’s unsure where the series is now headed. What better way to restore faith than go back to its roots?
Bringing the original to the next generation of consoles would allow the gameplay and story to be expanded on massively from what the limited hardware of the PlayStation 1 offered. An open-world on the scope of The Phantom Pain, wider variety of mechanics and updated graphics would offer a love letter to the original and allow it to be developed into a potential PS5 flagship title.
While still being a classic, Metal Gear Solid has definitely aged. A true return to form for Solid Snake focusing above all on stealth in a day when the genre is lacking. It would serve as both an entry point for new fans and a nostalgia trip for long standing ones.
