10 Video Game Rewards Not Worth Unlocking
8. The Hintbook - Fallout 2
While not as gargantuan as its open-world successors, Fallout 2 is still a meaty game. You're probably looking at a minimum of 40 hours for an average playthrough, and even longer if you want to see and do everything.
So what do you get for sinking in all that time? The Fallout 2 Hintbook, which sounds useful on the surface... but it's not.
After destroying the Enclave and finishing the game, you can head to New Reno and chat with Father Tully, who will tell you that "not many gamerz today finish gamez", almost mocking you for having dedicated so much time to playing.
He'll then hand you the hintbook, which, surprisingly, will max out all your stats. Again, it sounds pretty good. But the thing is... you've already finished the game at this point. When you finally acquire the hintbook, you don't even need it. Much like the last entry, the game is rewarding you with something that would only have been useful earlier on, and it's really not worth visiting Father Tully for.
A description of the item even acknowledges its uselessness, reading "Well, THIS would have been good to have at the beginning of the goddamn game."
More mockery. Fantastic!
