10 Video Game Rewards Not Worth Unlocking
5. The SLF450X - Midnight Club II
Rockstar's Midnight Club franchise hasn't been seen in over a decade, with Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2009.
But the series' best arrived six years earlier, when Midnight Club II launched in 2003. With solid driving mechanics and a killer soundtrack, it was a blast to play, although one of the top-tier rewards in the game was rather annoying to some.
After beating Career Mode and winning every Circuit Race - time-consuming and tricky requirements - you're awarded with the SLF450X, which is the fastest car in the game. It's shaped like a rocket ship and can boost like crazy, sending you hurtling down the road at an almost uncontrollable speed.
Unfortunately though, that speed is wasted, because, in order to get the car, you have to finish the game's toughest races. So, afterwards, you won’t have any challenges left that require you to go so fast. Worse still, you can't use the SLF450X in Career Mode, so even if you want to drive it, you're locked out of a significant chunk of the game.
So... what's the point? Are you meant to drive around and see the sights? Stare at it in the menu and wish it had a proper use? It's fun to blast down the streets in it once or twice, sure, but the novelty wears off immediately, and it ultimately serves no real purpose.
