5. Ancient Arrows - The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild does an immaculate job at balancing the combat to make every encounter a tense one. The weapon degradation meant that it was strategic to use lower quality items on a tribe of Bokoblins to save better swords and shields for more powerful adversaries.

Progressing far enough through the game will grant the player access to Ancient items, including a fetching hat and a smattering of arrows. Ancient armour will resist any damage taken from Guardians, making the march through Hyrule Field a cakewalk. Ancient Arrows work much the same way, having a critical impact on all things mechanical.

The downside, however, is that they provide the player with a cheap way out of any encounter with every other enemy.

A single Ancient Arrow will blast any non-guardian out of existence.

That Lynel that's been a thorn in your side for hours can be vaporised in an instant. There's no foe (excluding bosses) that can't be defeated in a matter of seconds.

To get the most out of the game (and to not be a dick) it' best to resist the urge to use them.
