10 Video Game Where You Can Gamble To Gain Ultimate Power (Or Lose Everything)
10. Trauma Savant - RimWorld
RimWorld is a survival management game that is almost completely driven by chance and streaks of good luck (or lack thereof).
Good and bad stuff just happens to you, but there are some things the player can actively bet on.
Out of all of them, gaining the Trauma Savant trait may be the most dangerous case of taking chances.
Trauma Savant is a secret medical condition in which severe brain damage causes your settler to lose all speaking ability, but in exchange for enhanced reflexes, strength, and eye-to-hand coordination.
The trait can make your settler a production and combat powerhouse, being able to outdo even experts in their respective fields, but since it’s gained by surviving a dangerous brain injury, the process of obtaining it is like playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded revolver and hoping the bullets won’t kill you.
Each time your settler suffers brain damage, it has a 12% chance of gaining the Trauma Savant trait. The other 88% will result in, well, brain damage, which, as is the case in real life, has a very low survivability rate.
Farming the trait is basically equivalent to shooting people in the head and hoping one of them comes out a superhuman instead of dead.
