The term 'pile of shame' is used to describe the list of games you've bought and started but never finished. For some people who are conservative with their money and time, it might just be a couple of titles they haven't got round to completing yet. For others who are a bit more frivolous with their cash, it could be hundreds and hundreds of games left unfinished, or even, despicably, left in their shrink wrap. Part of that pile of shame could be a game that you anticipated for months on end; a game you watched every trailer for and read every scrap of information you could find, just to make the wait more bearable. Then, when it finally arrived, you played for two days solid before throwing it back on the shelf and never looking at it again. Don't worry, we've all done it. It might be a fundamental problem with that particular game (or maybe we were just expecting too much?) that stopped our full enjoyment, but it happens more often than you might think. Here is a list of games that we played and initially thought were great, before we eventually lost interest and hardly returned to. We keep promising ourselves we'll come back to it eventually, but we really, really lack the motivation to return.
