10 Video Games That Had No Right Being Fun

10. The Oregon Trail

Oh good, Mary broke her arm. All we need now is for Davey to contract measles and it'll be a party. Dying of dysentery is universally accepted as being kind of rubbish, so it's strange to think that Oregon Trail was such a popular video game. It's designed as an educational experience (another warning sign for most discerning players) to teach kids about life as a pioneer travelling across the titular trail. What this basically means is that your characters will be dying from various awful illnesses quite a lot and being hungry, which is exactly as pleasant as it sounds. Thanks to the unpredictable simulation game play, it manages to make a tiring, dangerous and very real journey oddly engaging.
