10 Video Games That KNEW You'd Try To Cheat

2. Metal Gear Solid - Don't Use Auto-fire!

The Metal Gear Solid series is stuffed to the gills with fourth wall breaks, and one of the funniest ones happened all the way back in the original game (and its GameCube remake, The Twin Snakes).

At one point in the story, Snake will be captured and held hostage by Revolver Ocelot, before Ocelot proceeds to torture him. In the lead-up to the torture, however, the villain will explain some of the game mechanics to Snake - and, as a result, to you.

He'll tell Snake to press the "Surrender" button to submit, and the "Resist" button to regain his strength, while also pointing out that he hasn't saved his game in a while, and that it will be game over if he dies. But the thing that's relevant to this list is his statement "don't even think about using auto-fire or I'll know."

To survive the torture scene, you have to repeatedly mash the aforementioned "Resist" button to keep Snake alive. However, some players wanted to save their fingers some blisters and use auto-fire to simulate that mashing for them, cheating their way through the segment. But clearly, Konami anticipated people resorting to that tactic.

It wasn't just a hollow warning, either: there have been reports, from some auto-fire users, that Snake dies immediately. It seems to be on a controller-by-controller basis though, so maybe you'll get lucky and auto-fire will work for you.
