10 Video Games That Make You Realise How Greedy The Industry Has Become
10. Mario Kart Tour's Microtransactions
Mario Kart fans
rejoiced as Mario Kart Tour was set to be an ambitious implementation to the
juggernaut of a series but for all of Nintendo’s mobile fans! Tons of gamer's were excited to get
their hands on the game and be able to race against their friends.
All was not as it seemed however when the game released with no multiplayer, taking away a massive part of what makes the series so beloved, as well as a large push to get players to spend real money to in the form of their “Gold Pass”.
The pass allowed players to get more items and unique characters and vehicles, but most egregiously, it was the only way to access the 200cc mode, which was the fastest form of racing.
The game does have a store where you can purchase Rubies, which allow you to buy the best gear and have access to a coin rush mode where you can play to win more coins, and although it’s not necessary to obtain coins and rubies this way, MK Tour very much funnels you in this direction.
