6. Grand Theft Auto V

For all of the angry parents and upset activists it has gathered, GTA V is still a very impressive success within its own field. Now that excessively violent TV shows and movies are once again becoming more popular among the same types that would see Rockstar's game chastised, the path will soon start to clear for the game to gather the more universal acclaim that it so richly deserves. GTA V wraps its impressively simple revenge tale in a huge world that allows its players to amuse themselves with all manner of activities. Either one of these elements would have made for a great game in their own right, and the fact that gamers were given both and the added bonus of a wonderful online mode. While its existing audience would happily tout its remarkable appeal to any non-gamer all day long, it will ultimately be the benefit of hindsight that sees it start to become a more widely-acclaimed piece of entertainment.
