10 Video Games With Absolutely USELESS AI
10. Mass Effect: Andromeda
This one hurts.
After the divisive Mass Effect 3 left a sour taste in the majority of it's player bases mouths, a taste that they're still frantically trying to scrub from their tongue nearly a decade later with it's unsatisfactory conclusion. EA decided to give gamers another go around at requiting some of the love lost for their franchise.
Or so they said, releasing this metaphoric middle finger in it's stead, in what was supposed to be Mass Effect recapturing the essence that made the initial trilogy - minus the finale - such a captivating delight for players. This entry however, decided to horrify its fanbase through its unintentionally distressing visuals. As NPC's will initially look humanistic only for them to regurgitate their molecules by the time you've turned 360 degrees, greeting the player with something that looks right at home in a Lovecraftian novel more than it does a dramatic space opera.
It doesn't help either that the mechanical movements of the "lip syncing" look more akin to someone dubbing over an inanimate animation.
All that said though, the game wasn't completely void of anything good. The story was fairly well-written, the characters had scope here and there and the dialogue, well the dialogue wasn't that great actually and it further exuded the lack of intelligence, polish and care that went into the final product.
