10 Video Games You Can Expect At E3 2020
10. SOCOM
The PS4 generation has been Sony's best in terms of exclusive games. PS3 was more prolific, for sure, but the standard of quality Sony has boasted the past four years is unrivalled. From God of War to Uncharted IV, Days Gone to Horizon: Zero Dawn, it's clear Sony has the third-person, story-driven game down-pat.
There is, however, a pretty clear gap in Sony's portfolio; a AAA multiplayer title to rival the likes of Rainbow Six: Siege and even Halo. Great as Sony has been doing, it's no secret the publisher would like a live services title that it can milk for years to come.
Well, rumour has it Sony has set about rebooting the SOCOM series to lead its foray into said multiplayer space. We don't know who is working on it, but we do know that Guerrilla Games has been hiring for a a multiplayer title, including snatching the writer from Rainbow Six: Siege.
It has also hired devs to work on "tournaments" and "clans". Of course, that could mean a new entry in the always-reliable Killzone series, however it sounds like SOCOM, and that's a much better choice if Sony wants to penetrate the live services market. Expect a big reveal next June!
