10 Ways To Make 2017 A Great Year For Video Games

From new Nintendo consoles to incredible new franchises.

Let's be honest with one another, 2016 was a pretty mixed year for gaming.

Sure, we got gems like Inside, Dishonored 2, Uncharted 4 and Dark Souls 3, but we also got some more... 'on the fence' games, like The Last Guardian and No Man's Sky.

For every step we take forward - like virtual reality now being in the market - we take a couple of steps back, like lacklustre PS Plus titles and upgraded consoles not necessarily being must buys.

But hey, that was 2016.

2017 is just around the corner, and it's time we start looking at all the greatness that can come out of next year. We have some great new software coming to all platforms, the advent of a new Nintendo system, and Half Life 3 finally coming out (or not... seriously, where is that game?).

However, if you take a minute to look at what the year is going to be, you could see a lot of similarities to what we got in 2016. It wasn't all bad, of course, but it's time to start fresh and succeed in spots that the this year failed at.

Basically, let's make 2017 great from start to finish. Starting with...

10. Nintendo Bring Their Classics To Mobile

We've all probably played - or have seen a friend or coworker play - Pokemon Go since it came out this past Summer.

Now, we have Super Mario Run to take up our data - and take our money to get all the levels to finish the game, but what does Nintendo do now that they are making money through the mobile market?

Put out more games. Real games. Classic games.

Sure, this might be a pipe dream, but instead of getting something bland like Metroid Tilt or The Legend of Zelda Go, why can't we get Metroid, or a full Zelda straight up? We could still play Pokemon Go, but why not Pokemon Blue or Red in their entirety?

These are guaranteed money-makers for Nintendo, especially if they want to market these games to a newer generation outside of those who grew up playing the original brick Game Boy. It's a new way to experience Nintendo's past, and I'm already on board for whatever's next.
