10 Weird Video Game Facts That Became Canon
10. Doom Guy Is The Grandson Of BJ Blazkowicz - Doom
Doom and Wolfenstein have plenty of similarities. The main ones being that they are both owned by Bethesda and that they both feature acts of extreme violence committed against an army of evil bastards.
However, this isn’t really where the similarities end. In fact, thanks to the input of Doom’s legendary creator, John Romero, the two universes aren't simply alike—they are identical!
In one of his interviews, Romero has confirmed that Doom Guy is actually a descendant of Wolfenstein’s original protagonist, BJ Blazkowicz, and that the events of Wolfenstein precede the demonic apocalypse on Mars.
This means that not only is Doom Guy a part of an entire bloodline of angry and violent butt-kickers, but that he also comes from a universe where Nazis have taken over the world and the Mars colony might have been a project of Wolfenstein’s Third Reich.
Romero and his team have actually played on this revelation a bit in the past, leaving hints about the Nazi world of BJ Blazkowicz in Doom, for example, by remodeling one of their demonic enemies to look like the Harbinger of Doom from the original Wolfenstein.
A world of demons and Nazis. No wonder all the Blazkowicz family is so angry all the time.
