10 Worst Video Games Based On Comic Books
10. Spider-Man And Venom: Maximum Carnage
For years, Spider-Man games have been hit or miss. Some are decent, every few are exceptional, and many more are just awful. One such game would have to be Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage, which was released for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis in 1994.
The game is based on the story arc of the same name, and the way it was advertised, it looked to be amazing! Spider-Man and Venom — mortal enemies — are forced to team up against Carnage, and they have a plethora of Marvel's most popular characters coming in for support.
Captain America, Black Cat, Iron Fist, Cloak & Dagger, Firestar, Deathlok, and Morbius are ... not playable characters in the game. That came as a surprise to plenty of gamers when the game was released, as it turned out you could only play as either Venom or Spider-Man.
The game is a relatively simple side-scrolling button-masher, and it is incredibly dull. All of the superpowers of Venom and Spider-Man are worthless, as the only real way to play is to punch and kick your way through endless swarms of enemies over a repetitive background.
