WWE 2K15 has just been announced as the first wrestling game to hit next gen consoles and will make its debut later in the year. The hope is that it will be a huge step up from the current generation of WWE games, improving on the already impressive 2K series. Let's face it, despite our nitpicking we've been pretty spoiled in recent years when it comes to wrestling games. At least compared to the past. But it hasn't always been plain sailing for WWE games. Like any long running game series, wrestling fans have had to make do with their fair share of disappointments. To be fair, the worst entries have mostly been reserved for games outside the WWE umbrella. WCW had a few terrible games like Backstage Assault and Thunder, ECW had two lackluster entries and even TNA dipped their toe into bad wrestling games in 2008. And that's not to mention horrible other attempts like Backyard Wrestling and Simpsons Wrestling. In this list however, we will be focusing solely on games based on the WWE product. WWE have been making games for nearly 30 years, starting way back with Micro League Wrestling way back in 1987. In that time they've done well to have a mostly good record at creating decent video games but every now and then a game more disgusting than Bastion Booger slipped through the cracks. But hey, at least they never made an XFL game, right?
